Fly Away Program
An easy way to make a big difference

Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care

'helping and healing wildlife'

Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care is dedicated to helping native wildlife through rehabilitation of injured, ill and orphaned birds, mammals, and reptiles and by furthering public knowledge and appreciation of wildlife through education.

Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care rehabilitates wildlife in need of help with the goal of restoring them to the free, wild and natural life that is their birthright. Songbirds, hawks, owls, water birds, and small mammals are brought to us from as far north as Bridgeport and Walker and as far south as Olancha. Most animals are rescued from roadsides or backyards by compassionate individuals. In some cases, ESWC may send a rescue team.Baby Barn Owl, fell from its nest in West Bishop in the summer of 2004. Along with one of its siblings, the owl was raised, conditioned, taught to hunt, and successfully released.

Trained volunteers care for our injured, orphaned or ill patients. We treat injuries including wing and leg fractures, illness, emaciation and other problems. Orphaned animals receive foster care—proper formulas, housing, and training for release.

ESWC seeks to educate individuals, businesses and organizations about living with their wild neighbors and how to prevent conflicts from arising. We also have educational programs designed for schools and organizations which are offered free of charge.

Fly Away Program
Click here to find out about an easy way to make a big difference!

A few coins a day will help me fly away" is the slogan for Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care's new fundraising program.  Attractive "Fly Away" coin cannisters make it easy for individuals to support the wildlife rehabilitation work of this tax-exempt, volunteer-based organization.

Debbie Hilton came up with the concept, and she, Charlotte Harbeson and Sandra Kupelian all worked to execute it. The program involves signing up participants who take home a special coin cannister (piggy bank) in which they put their spare change. When the can is full, the person can call for a pickup or drop the can at Curves, Bishop, where they take the coins and the person takes the can back home.An easy way to make a big difference.

You can call Cindy at 872-1487 and arrange to take home a can to fill with your spare coins. Bishop area participants can drop off their filled cannisters at Curves, 1180 N. Main St. (next to Smart and Final). Cans can also be dropped off at Radio Shack/The Sound Shoppe in Mammoth, or call 872-8783 to schedule a pickup.

All proceeds from the "Fly Away" program go to the care and feeding of orphaned and injured wild birds and mammals. As of March, 2007, this program has raised $1,400 for injured and orphaned wildlife.
