A few coins a day will help me fly away" is the slogan for Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care's new fundraising program. Attractive "Fly Away" coin canisters make it easy for individuals to support the wildlife rehabilitation work of this tax-exempt, volunteer-based organization.
Debbie Hilton came up with the concept, and she, Charlotte Harbeson and Sandra Kupelian all worked to execute it. The program involves signing up participants who take home a special coin canister (piggy bank) in which they put their spare change. When the can is full, the person can call for a pickup or drop the can at Curves, Bishop, where they take the coins and the person takes the can back home.
You can call Cindy at 872-1487 and arrange to take home a can to fill with your spare coins. Bishop area participants can drop off their filled canisters at Curves, 1180 N. Main St. (next to Smart and Final). Cans can also be dropped off at Radio Shack/The Sound Shoppe in Mammoth, or call 872-8783 to schedule a pickup.
All proceeds from the "Fly Away" program go to the care and feeding of orphaned and injured wild birds and mammals.
